Ngaire is a GP academic and the Joyce Cook Chair in Ageing Well at The University of Auckland. Care of people in advanced age, Aged Residential Care, Falls prevention and Robotic assistive technologies are reserach areas. Ngaire also leads the Ageing Well through Eating, Sleeping, Socialising and Mobility (AWESSoM) programme funded by the Ageing Well National Science Challenge.
Advanced Ageing in NZ; LiLACS NZ LiLACS NZ engaged Maori aged 80-90 and non-Maori aged 85 years in the Bay of Plenty in 2010. This presentation will update recent analyses about mortality, AF, Falls, exercise and care home placement. Older Maori and non-Maori age well with differences in risk factor profiles that suggests one size does not fit all.
